Bit of design work for my bro Paul Siksik, a prolific home brewer. I volunteered to design a few labels for his various beverages and create a visual identity that he can run with if his hobby grows into something bigger.
Paul is half Inuit (native Canadian) and his namesake, the siksik, is a small ground dwelling mammal, similar to a squirrel or a groundhog. Stensolo “Icons…” Interview & Review
Stensolo is well on his way to settling into his cutting-edge, and proving popular, new style. He has been through an impressive experimental phase, starting out with hand-painted, acrylic portraits of icons which have developed into definitive, street-art looking stencils that he is aiming to complete in the “least number of cuts.” ‘Lydia’ and ‘Bale’ are two paintings that he specifically mentions when speaking about the elements that are fundamental to Stensolo’s work, and claims he is going to do “more like those two.” He has just today; cut a striking, mirror image of the extremely stylish, award-winning, Bruce Willis, looking very snazzy in his suit jacket and suggestive, next-day stubble. His debut Shanghai exhibition marked the end of his two-year ‘residency’ here. But don’t worry; this is not the end of Stensolo. This is only the beginning. Watch this space for upcoming and exciting new creative projects, including the soon-to-be released - “Stensolo Tease.” Oh, and he also wanted me to clarify - Stensolo’s not trying to be better than Banksy. Just different. ttfn, Pinky la Rouge x Stensolo's debut Shanghai exhibition was a huge success! The fifty or so guests were entertained and "wowed" with his live painting demonstration, where he produced five Kiwiana-based canvases, some with a distinct 'Asia-Pacific' fusion feel. Stensolo also "livelied-up" our dear friend, Toni's scooter with a baby pink and purple background and California-themed stencils. Huge thanks to Mike and Steph Arand for hosting the event and providing tasty Kiwiana nibbles NZ vino and a barbie! Seven pieces were sold to enthusiastic fans; the rest are all up for sale.
